The Community Education Program provides community and professional groups with presentations and trainings on the problem of child abuse and strategies for prevention.
Volunteer Community Educators are available free of charge, daytime and evening, seven days a week, throughout Contra Costa County. Presentations are typically 60-90 minutes in length and cover a range of child abuse related topics, including:
* Definitions of child abuse
* Physical and behaviorial indicators
* National, state and local statistics
* California Child Abuse Reporting Law
* Reporting guidelines and procedures
* Discipline vs. Abuse
* Strategies for prevention
* Local resources

Help prevent child abuse in your spare time. The Child Abuse Prevention Council of Contra Costa County is recruiting volunteer speakers for the Community Education Program. Volunteers must complete a mandatory 18-hour speaker's training course. If you have a desire to enhance your knowledge of child abuse and child abuse prevention and increase public awareness, then we need you.
